I’d like to take a moment to show appreciation for everyone who took time to view my blog and follow me this past year. This has been a prolific period for Piecework Prose and it has seen exponential growth in that time. Two books were self-published (Calling Forth, In the Midst of Crisis) with an upcoming anthology planned for 2022. This new book will be a compilation of poems previously featured on the site. I’ll be considering hardback releases of all published pieces, including the newest that will be available as an e-book and paperback as well.
This next year should see a reorientation, shifting from poem-centric to a prose-centric focus. This isn’t to say that poetry will be completely done away with, more so that the poetry being published will lean more towards the experimental and lengthier end of the spectrum. Prose has always been what I’m most interested in, but it requires a great deal more focus for me to produce. I want to begin pushing myself more, forcing myself to examine new subject matter or explore my tropes in new interesting ways.
These last few months I’ve been experiencing a creative block, feeling that it’s more difficult for me to write than when I was younger. 2022 will be dedicated to tackling this concern and growing as a writer. I’m hoping that you all will engage with me concerning my output, be it good or bad. I am open to criticism and welcome it. There’s no way to know what’s good or not without feedback. I also welcome ideas, challenges, or exercises. Engagement, though traditionally difficult for me, will be of utmost importance moving forward.
If there is anything you all would like to know feel free to comment. This doesn’t have to be limited to just what I write either, feel free to strike up a conversation.
Thanks again everyone!
